Three Easy Ways to Make Your Warrington Home Feel Bigger

Three Easy Ways to Make Your Warrington Home Feel Bigger

We'd all like to live in a home with oodles and oodles of space but that's not always possible. So, here are some easy ways to make even the smallest space seem bigger.

1. Mirror, mirror on the wall

Mirrors are the easiest way to create a feeling of more space.
The secret is clever positioning. It's best to place mirrors so that they reflect light from your windows or in a key location to create a focal point.

Don't just limit yourself to a single mirror over the fireplace. Have many mirrors in each room. Mix and match different styles for extra interest.

Mirrored furniture such as cupboards, coffee tables and bedside tables can create a feeling of more space, too.

2. Make more space …. with paint

Greys and other dark colours may be fashionable but can make a room feel claustrophobic. If you fancy brightening up your décor, go for white (the very best colour for creating space) or alternatively light, fresh pastel colours.

It's not only walls and ceilings that can benefit. Consider repainting dark-coloured furniture like shelving, bookcases and wardrobes with light-coloured furniture paint.

The paint brand Dulux even sells a special Light + Space emulsion paint.
It contains light-reflecting particles which, according to the company, reflect up to twice as much light and so help make your room feel bigger.

3. Less (furniture) is more
Too much furniture makes any room, no matter what size it is, look cramped and small. Taking one or two pieces of furniture out will make your room feel bigger.

Go around a room and analyse how you use each space. Remove any furniture you never or rarely use. Move it to another room or give it away.

You could also consider (if it's practical) sizing down with your seating. For example, you could swap a three-piece suite into a two-piece suite to make your room feel larger instantly.
